Sargon Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 My computer is instantly waking up from sleep mode. At first, I thought it was my new super sensitive Steel Series Sensei mouse. But now I have gone through the device manager, and I sware every single thing that has a power management tab has "allow this device to wake up the computer" UNselected. Yes, of course including the new mouse. I'm not sure where else to trouble shoot...as the only things that should be waking up my computer besides the main power button should be under device management and if my main power button was stuck or something I would be having other issues I think. I know that people have posted about sleep mode before so I'm sorry, but I didn't see a post where some1 had gone through power management and still had trouble. Thanks every1 for your time. Quote
KenB Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Hi and welcome to ExTS Have you got S1 or S3 Sleep Mode enabled in the BIOS ? (There is not a standard BIOS I am afraid so instructions may differ for yours) Switch on and tap either F2 / DEL ( depends on your system ) You will see ..."Press --- to Enter Setup" on screen. You have to be quick. Once in the BIOS look for Power Management or similar. (Move around with the arrow keys) Enable ACPI ( Advanced Configuration Power Interface ) then select "S1" or "S3" for ACPI Standby State S1 (Sleep). The CPU is stopped; The RAM is regenerated; the system functions in reduced power. S3 (Standby) The CPU does not have any power; The RAM regenerates at minimum; the power supply unit is in mode of reduced power. Make sure "Wake on Ring" and "Wake on LAN" options are disabled. Save and Exit. ( Usually F10 but you will see this on screen ) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Sargon Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks for the info. Which setting do you suggest? Quote
KenB Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Hi again They are so similar. I think S3 (Standby Mode) uses a little less power. Try S1 first. If that does what you want I would leave it at that :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
