Guest Cnews Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Looking for opinions as to what software works best for imaging / cloning an xp workstation. I would like the ability to boot off a disk created by the software and restore my image without errors. I had been looking at norton ghost and acronis true image. Any opinions welcome Thanks craig
Guest Ed. Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Re: best imaging software I use Image for DOS (IFD). I create bootable restore DVD disks and also save an image to an external USB hard drive at times. For cloning a drive when I replaced a drive I used the free utility Copywipe. http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/index.htm You can try the products out on a trial before purchasing. Check them out. Ed. I use Acronis as do many others and find it is easy to use, does the job and is inexpensive, I suspect Ghost and others are much the same. Just pick one, try it and if it does what you need then it will be the 'best'.

Most of my hardware is 2 years old. That may be a factor from the boot CD for newer stuff, not sure. -- Dave

Or if you buy it in the package, it's already in there (a bootable CD).
Guest Cnews Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Re: best imaging software Well, I just read a few reviews that claim norton ghost 14 still doesnt work with Vista- and the symantec website is misleading, listing it under specifications but qualifying the stamente with a small print type *additional requirements may apply* Done... Acronis wins...
