I meant the "From" name that is displayed rather than the e-mail address.

It seems you've got it right now. <vbg>

Messenger. Do you have time to use Messenger between your phone calls?

<gdrvvvf> (some chance)

This hot weather and Noel's visit are the tonic I've been needing for a

while and am now feeling more alive than I have for months. All that

remains is to somehow undo the damage I've done to myself over the last

several months!

Ciao

<lol> Glad the weekend did you good, mind you the weather has changed for

the worst at the moment high winds and rain not the best for the holiday

season down here.

As for messenger I know Steven used it a lot not sure about now and if Noel

does his disappearing trick with it, well who knows <g>

You see I haven't deserted my WinME friends just because I've gone up market

LOL, You're just catching up! And with the release of Vista SP1 not a bad

time to be doing so either.

LOL!! Have they straightened you out yet??

Off to take a FREE one hour camera lesson cuz I don't understand the

damn things. Trying to take closeups of my finished jewellery and I

can't get the colour right. Yes, I do have the flash off. (G) Elayne

is the camera wizard, but too impatient to teach me, I guess.

<lol> I straightened myself out, just needed to go back and alter a couple

of things <g>

Doesn't the camera you use have a macro function, most of the newer ones do,

that should allow you to do the close ups.

Re: DSL update and another issue

Yup.....I use the macro function and no flash. Didn't learn all that

much from the camera whiz to be honest, but he was a nice lad. I took

some pieces of jewellery with me and even he had to say I took better

ones than he did of one particular blue and green one.

Could have sold a few pieces today, but I am so stupidly shy about how

much to charge and so on. I can sell a half million dollar house, but

not a silly piece of (damn good) jewellery, lol. Guess it is because it

is my *design* or *inspiration* and so on, therefore rather personal. I

make stuff for ME.....then if others like it, I will make it, but I

never keep track of the price of all of the bits, so not too sure what

to charge, grin.

My passion is copper and Swarovski crystals.....and my pharmacist wanted

that bracelet I sent you a picture of. Ack!! I will add up the costs

and see how he reacts. The problem is most people who see my things are

friends. Strangers I would have no problem with. Maybe.

It would depend upon the modem. An Ethernet modem should work with any OS

that can run Enternet 300, RasPPPoE, or the like.

Absolutely not true. Unless you are using an internal DSL modem (do any ISPs

still use those), DSL will work with Windows 98, or Windows Me (I can't

personally check older; but, if Enternet 300, or RasPPPoE will run under

Windows 95, then it should work).

And, if your ISP is shipping any of the latest CPE, all that you need is a

functional Ethernet connection.

I have an old (October, 2000 purchase date) HP Pavilion 6745C. They shipped

with Windows Me. I had no trouble setting up DSL on that OS. Pacific Bell

(was actually owned by SBC, but they allowed the component companies to

continue operating under the old names for a while) shipped a Westell

WireSpeed B90-36R516 Ethernet bridge, and included Enternet 300 on the

install CD. That was how I first set it up. Added a router shortly

thereafter.

Recently upgraded it to Windows XP Home Edition; primarily because

Mercury/32 would start using up resources as I opened, and closed, the

control panel. Eventually, Windows Me would be run down to 15% free System

Resources, or less, and I'd have to reboot. Got tired of that game.

System hardware is minimally adequate for Windows XP (700 MHz Celeron

processor, 256 MBytes RAM), but it doesn't fall over every two, or three

days.
