lyppy Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I have an Acer Aspire One Happy. I have a built in webcam which I apparently can use through Android. (dont know about using through Windows) When I click on the camara icon all the camara will show is a black screen. When I click on the top right hand button to take a picture it just takes a black picture. My webcam is not covered. Can you use the webcam to take pictures - my son has an Acer laptop and takes his picture all the time with it (he has Crystal Eye. I dont even know if my webcam is crystal eye or cyberlink as I cant find any program file - but then I cant get my head around Windows 7 as my main laptop is still XP!) - or is it only used for Skype etc. Thanks for any help. lyppy Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Thank you for the welcome and your reply. I typed in what you told me to but Imaging devices isnt listed. KenB Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Hi again If Imaging Devices is not listed in Device Manager the drivers for you webcam are not installed. I have checked on the Acer site and, according to the info I found, the drivers should be integrated into Win7. In other words - if your webcam is detected Win7 should automatically install the drivers for it. You could try this: Go back to Device Manager > Click on Action ( toolbar ) > Add Legacy Hardware. Follow the prompts. The system will search for any hardware that does not have a driver installed. You will get a warning about "You should only use this wizard ....." - click "Next" then follow the prompts. lyppy Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Hello Yet again it's not going to work. I click on Action and all it drops down is "Help" (Thats what I need!!!). I'm assuming that the webcam wasnt pre-installed when I bought the notebook and that i8ts a fault with the manufacturer. If I had knowledge I suppose maybe scratching everything and starting again would help, but I have no idea how to keep the things I have installed. Thank you for trying anyway, what do \i need a webcam for anyway!! I'll use my sons!!! Quote
Goku Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Hello Lyppy. Can you please download and install the driver from here and see if it makes a difference or not? -- Goku Quote
lyppy Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Hello and thank you for repying. I downloaded your link but when I tried to open it I get error message "Acer CrystalEye webcam - Install wizard Unreconised camara" I thought it would be crystal eye as my son's laptop is but maybe the notebooks arent. Any other ideas would be great - many thanks for your help Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 What is the exact model number of this Netbook? The camera could be Chicony,Liteon or even Suyin.... There is also diffrent driver downloads for each type of Windows 7,like starter kit or premium..... Once we have the exact model number we can find the correct driver for you.....
