Guest Ian McCulloch Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Can anyone explain why some printers will spit out notification that a job was sucessfully printed and other will not? On my windows server 2003 print server, under printers & faxes>server properties>advanced tab, I have "Show informational notifications for network printers" selected It works for the most part except on a few older machines (say an IP based HP LJ 4000) Any thoughts or direction? Is it a printer I/O setting or something with Windows? Ian McCulloch Sydney, NS Canada

Firmware on the printer and JetDirect up to date? - Thee Chicago Wolf

Guest Thee Chicago Wolf Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Re: Print Notification >Will be hard - an older printer - maybe that is the issue Have you used the HP Download Manager tool to get an idea of the printers in the network? It's free, can audit the whole network for JetDirect Model and Printer Firmware level. It's also smart enough to be able to go and grab firmwares an auto-update for you. Grab it here, it's free: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=13218&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=27355&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&lang=en&cc=us - Thee Chicago Wolf
