Print Notification

Can anyone explain why some printers will spit out notification that a job

was sucessfully printed and other will not?

On my windows server 2003 print server, under printers & faxes>server

properties>advanced tab, I have "Show informational notifications for

network printers" selected

It works for the most part except on a few older machines (say an IP based

HP LJ 4000)

Any thoughts or direction?

Is it a printer I/O setting or something with Windows?

My guess is that perhaps some printers have this feature in the OS /

Firmware capabilities of the printer. Firmware on the printer and

JetDirect up to date?

Have you used the HP Download Manager tool to get an idea of the

printers in the network? It's free, can audit the whole network for

JetDirect Model and Printer Firmware level. It's also smart enough to

be able to go and grab firmwares an auto-update for you.

Grab it here, it's free:
