Guest Tom Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I have 2 Samsung DVD units in my XP based PC. One is a reader, the other a writer. When I try and open a commercial DVD in either unit, media player shows the dvd contents down the right side but it appears when it tries to start audio, the system crashes and automatically reboots. This happens with both units. So far I have run Driver plus and upgraded all my drivers to current level. Loaded latest firmware on each of the DVD units, installed Windows Media Player 11 and the windows supplied codecs, upgraded XP to SP3. Both units play audio cds no problem - mediaplayer plays all my wmv files ok. I also have NERO on the machine and as soon as I start Showtime - machine crashes and reboots. I'm guessing I have a bad driver somewhere but at a loss to figure out where. Any ideas would be appreciated. -- Thanks in Advance Tom

I would try it on a different machine.

Might be the DVD Decoder. Give the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 4.0 a shot: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm - Thee Chicago Wolf
