Guest Isaac Perez Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Hi all, We have an accouting software that uses the local computer\username to authenticate to the server shared folders in this way: local-pc\local user No matter if you had already established a connection with the server or not. The clients are not in the domain, and due other reasons will not be added. The clients OS is windows xp and vista. My question is if I can create a new user account that reflects the remote computer and remote user in the DC, or make it accept the connections from them. Thanks, Isaac
Guest Paul Bergson [MVP-DS] Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Re: DC accept remote accounts authentication You don't need to join the remote machine to the domain. Users should be prompted for a user id and password when they map to the share. They will simply need to enter in the following format user => domain name\user id password => password of user account -- Paul Bergson MVP - Directory Services MCTS, MCT, MCSE, MCSA, Security+, BS CSci 2008, 2003, 2000 (Early Achiever), NT4 http://www.pbbergs.com Please no e-mails, any questions should be posted in the NewsGroup This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
