Guest Robichris Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 My laptop has XP pro with SP3. In use, after a short time (5 mins to 30 mins), either sitting idle with no programs running or engaged in activity (eg. word processing), the mouse freezes. Everything else is working OK and I can navigate to other programs and save documents etc with the keyboard, but the only solution I can find is to shut down and restart. I have tried other mice all with the same result. I have replaced the i8067prt and mouclas system files copied from my desktop machine without effect.

You didn't mention whether the mice used the USB port, or PS/2, nor did you mention whether they used a roller ball, or were optical. But since the problem occurs with different mice, try lowering graphics hardware acceleration slide. You can lower graphics hardware acceleration in Display Properties, Settings tab, Advanced button, Troubleshooting tab. If this helps, you probably need a different graphics card or drivers. -- Joe =o)
Guest Robichris Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Re: Mouse freezes Sorry. Should have said am using PS2 optical mice as limited no. of USB ports. My laptop may be old but has served well. Apart from the mouse freezing, graphics continue to work OK.
