Guest Ch33zst34k Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I recently upgraded my Nvidia drivers for my home-built rig running XP, SR3. Video card is NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (640 MB) . All my games used to run fine before SR3 and driver update and simply restoring system doesn't see to help. My amateur guess is that the issue is related to either monitor resolution and/or frame rate since games work okay on CRT monitor, however my Viewsonic LCD flat panel goes black upon game start - I can verify that games are booting because i do get load screen initially, but then screen goes black but audio is clearly playing. I am forced to reboot to get back into Windows since I can't ctrl-alt-del in the blackness. Any help on this one guys ? I am having withdrawl from not gaming ! TIA, G
Guest Andrew E. Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 RE: Maybe off-topic ? Video Games cause monitor to "go black" Try installing the previous driver package from nvidia. Also, maybe download the latest Direct X update, get the redistributable, install, then install nvidia. I think I am getting closer however, narrowing the issue to be monitor related. My CRT monitor has no problem but the flat panel LCD still blacks out. Can anyone advise how to adjust frame rate and/or resolutions to optimal setting ? TIA !
