frosty121 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I recently had a computer of mine running on Windows XP looked at by a friend as it was running slow. Since having it back the USB ports dont work or power up any of my devices, but my device manager is telling me everything is ok. I cannot solve the problem using any of the troubleshoots and I can only assume that part of the USB port drivers have accidentaly been deleted or disturbed in some way? My question is do USB port drivers come as part of Windows XP? And will re-installing Windows XP solve the problem? Thanx, James. Quote
maynardvdm Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Hi First try uninstalling all the usb drivers then restart the PC. Windows should install everything automatically when it boots up again. Plastic Nev Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Hi, You have looked in device manager, are you sure there are no red or yellow marks against Universal Serial Bus Controllers? Did your friend open up or otherwise go inside your computer? it may be he removed connections and forgot to put them back, check by turning off the power, remove the cover, touch the case to kill any static, then check all connections, assuming this is a desktop and not a laptop machine.
