Re: File filters in 2003 SP2?

Hello A,

To use FSRM your server needs to 2003 R2? Is this the case? FSRM with file

screening is exactly what you can use for this. So how did you try to install

FSRM and what was the exact error message?

Best regards

Re: File filters in 2003 SP2?

No, we are running just 2k3 SP2. Cant move upto R2 for a while yet. Budget

issues.

So, how come I can install FSRM on my XP Pro desktop and not the SP2 server.

That seems a little silly to me.

The message I get is this:

"the version of windows you have installed does not match the update you are

trying to install"

So, you Have to have R2 to run FSRM.

Thats one thing I can throw at the boss to warrent upgrade (but one is not

enough).

Okay, any other options I can try to prevent unwanted files from being

copied from the local machine to the server?

Hello A,

What you are trying to achive is not possible. R2 is for 2003 not for XP.

Maybe you can prepare a script that runs hourly and deletes unwanted file

extensions. If you like to block unwanted files you can buy other software

like Quota and File sentinel for example. But his still is no freeware.

Best regards

Re: File filters in 2003 SP2?

Yea. I read about R2 and how its not really much of an update to the core

OS. Then you read deeper and most of the helpful toys only work with R2.

Odd that.

Well, Ill have to see if I can fiddle a GPO, or make a script for the

server. Ah, at least we are running 2003 R1 instead of 2000 now. :-)
