Power Options ... On the move

I have several XP machines on a network (domain). Some of these machines are

routinely used via Remote Desktop. I have been struggling with a couple of

machines in particular where the Power Options (PO) keeps reverting back to

Laptop. I have gone so far as to completely disable any power saving

possibilities (including deleting the Laptop PO) and putting these machines

in Presentation mode. Every time I change the settings ... these machines

will work as expected for days or weeks at a time, then they revert to the

Laptop PO.

 

This may be an error in observation; however, there may be a pattern of

"updates" and the reverting to the "Laptop" setting. In addition, there have

also been changes to domain user profiles during this same period of

frustration.

 

These two machines are part of a group of 15 machines (Dell 4600) that were

all purchased and deployed at the same time. These two machines are the only

ones that I am having this problem with.
