Guest Abel MacAdam Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Hi, I recently got a new PC, with XP (SP3) pre-installed. After changing the configuration using TweakUI I have a slight problem. The PC shop had my system installed so if I turn it on no login screen or window is shown. That is broken now. The first time I started XP after messing with TweakUI I had a window where I was instructed to choose an account to log in with. But no account was shown! I solved that, but now I have a window where I need to enter a password. But that is not necessary. How do I solve this (In TweakUI? I'm at work, and I see that if you start TweakUI you can change the Logon. If you open Logon you have an Autologon where you can select 'Log on automatically at system startup' This is not something I would like to do on my work system, though) Abel
Guest Ron Badour Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Re: Log in window appeared I was right with you until you wrote para 2. Is your work PC the one you are asking about? If not, what does it have to do with your question? Assuming it has nothing to do with it and that the PC in question is your personal PC, try this: - Go to Run on the Start menu and type: control userpasswords2 and click OK - Mark the box that requires users to enter a password. - Click your account name. - Unmark the box that requires users to enter a password and click OK. - When prompted for a password, click OK. -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Abel MacAdam" <AbelMacAdam@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F4FB9365-BD8D-439E-80DF-9BFE3D7BD589@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I recently got a new PC, with XP (SP3) pre-installed.
