Jelly Bean Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Hello and welcome..... To help you further, what make and model is your computer or make and model of your mainboard? Often enough you cannot just replace a GPU you also have to replace the power supply.... What wattage is your PSU? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
AaronCarlson Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 Model: Asus Desktop Pc CM6850 Series Windows 7 Premium Processor: Intel® Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz Ram: 8.0 GB System: 64 bit Power supply: 300W but i plan on getting a 1000w power supply for the new card. Graphics Card: That's in it now is Nvidia Geforce GT 530 Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 You realy dont need that larger PSU 500-600 watt would do it...... You will be fine fitting that new card......Ive looked ay your mainboard specs and the card will fit and run..... Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
AaronCarlson Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 Alright thank you so much. Ive read where alot of people run the 1000w with that card. But im sure you know so ill just stick with the 600w. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I think 1000 is over kill......Unless your running some high specification dual graphics card computer there realy is no need for that amount.....I do say always get a little extra power just in case you wish to add more hardware in the future.600 watt is a decent PSU to buy.....1000 watt is a waste of money..... Please buy a good branded PSU.....Corsair or OCZ are good ones.......Do NOT buy PC Wprld Jeantek brand, they are prone to develope faults and fail...... AaronCarlson Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Corsair+-+Professional+Series+850-Watt+ATX+CPU+Power+Supply/2193296.p?id=1218313325170&skuId=2193296&st=computer power supply&cp=1&lp=6 I was thinking that one. So its just right in between the 700 and 1000. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 That is an excellent choice, room to power any upgrades and great brand....I would buy that one..... Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
