Guest Artificer Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Before doing some changes in my server configuration (installing new application and policies for example)I would like to make an image of the hard drive to an external USB Hard Disk because if sometime goes wrong I would like to revert the system. I don’t need any fancy multicasting feature. I would appreciate any recommendation. Can I use the windows server system restore feature or I should use a commercial tool?
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Re: Clone a Windows Server Hello Artificer, This will always bring you back to the level when you run it. If you really like to have an image, you have to use imaging software. BUT do not image a Domain controller. This way it comes up as a new install with a clean and new SID, otherwise, there *may* be problems associated with the image. But Meinolf, as you said and I agree, NEVER image a domain controller. -- Regards, Ace This posting is provided "AS-IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.
