Isn't the whole point of disk balancing so that files are spread equally

over all of the disk array? I have (2) 750GB and (2) 320GB HDDs in my server

and only one of the 320GB drives is filling up. This makes for horrible

access times and makes me vulnerable to data loss if that single drive

crashes!!

Does anyone know if there is a fix?

Hello DevlshOne,

If you setup a mirrored RAID correctly, you will see one disk with 320GB.

To see data on both mirrors i think you have to boot with a BartPE or similar

to access the single disks.

I have all of the disks as individual units, not RAID'd. Shouldn't the "DISK

BALANCING" built in to WHS be doing something?

If you're talking about Windows Home Server it's based on Server 2003 not

2008. The best place to ask questions about it is here:

http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer/default.aspx?SiteID=50

I don't know how the disk balancing works in WHS. It's very different from

any other redundancy systems I've used. I'm sure someone in the forum will

be able to answer your questions.

Hello DevlshOne,

With the 2008 i thought you meant not Home server 2003. But have a look on

this one, maybe it helps:

For other problems use the link from Kerry Brown.
