Windows XP Explorer.exe and drwtsn32.exe crashing

Recommended Posts

I randomly get Explorer.exe needs to close etc, and then after I close

that dialog, dr watson postmortem debugger has an error and I need to

end the process to get explorer to end/restart itself.

Fault address always changes.

----EVENTVWR----

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.5512, faulting

module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x028bfac4.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Dr Watson's fault address is always the same.

----EVENTVWR----

Faulting application drwtsn32.exe, version 5.1.2600.0, faulting module

dbghelp.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, fault address 0x0001295d.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I can provide my .dmp files upon request(i'm not exactly sure how to

troubleshoot dump files). Also can provide my dr watson log.

Windows XP Service Pack 3

NOD32 Smart Security

Spybot S&D

HijackThis!

I have run antivirus and antispyware programs with no luck. Ran

Hijackthis which shows nothing suspicious. Also ran various tools such

as Tunup Utilities to check the HDD and registry for errors etc..

Any ideas? This happened on SP2 a while ago as well. Dont know what

caused it, ended up formatting the hdd which obviously fixed it that

time, but I really dont wish to reformat if I dont have to.

Thanks. Wish it would have told me it was going to restart before i ran

it, but its fine. 30 seconds was more than enough time to save everything.

Hope it works :) If it doesn't i'll be back later :)

thanks again.

Do you really want to trust someone that was banned from posting

directly to Microsoft Usenet servers, someone that has posted links to

pornographic materials on HIS WEBSITE, who's website is in the MVP HOST

Block list, and who provides a tool for your use that will block access

to reputable anti-malware sites without telling you he's doing it?

And do you really want to trust someone that has had to change their

posting identity after being busted by MS as a fake MVP?

And what else do you think he didn't tell you - do you really want to

trust someone that has been so dishonest and unethical for so very long?

Thank you for the feedback. I've updated it. It will now tell you before you

run it that a reboot is required.

Maybe you should tell him about the modifications you make BEFORE you

make them....

Maybe you should provide an UNDO function in case you screw something

up.

Maybe you should tell people that some of your hacks will block access

to reputable anti-malware sites that can help them.....

Maybe you can stop staling me in your posts....

Why don't you want to be honest. That is not an honest Web site and you are

not an MVP, at least not a Microsoft MVP.
