Guest Calab Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 I've got seven drives on an Adaptec 16 port RAID controller. Three of them are individual volumes. I can't find any way to determine which drive is using which drive letter. Can anyone other there help?

I believe it will tell you by port or LUN. If I remember, I think there may also be an option you can click on to blink the drive light, but I don't think the software will tell you which drive letter it is. If the drives are all of the same size, it will be difficult. You can look in Computer Management, Disk Management. You'll see Disk0, Disk1, etc. They usually will follow the port numbers on each controller, with the first one being on controller 1, and the drive ports will be based on lower to higher (Disk0=port0, Disk1 - port1, etc). If any of them are part of a RAID, it will complicate it. You can probably also perform some action, such as copy a large file on a drive to another folder on the same drive and observe the lights. -- Regards, Ace This posting is provided "AS-IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights. What I finally ended up doing was disconnecting one drive at a time and refreshing the view in Adaptec software and in My Computer.

I was going to suggest that, but thought to try the other methods first because of the constant restarts. But its good you figured it out. Ace
