Guest Keith Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Every time I start my PC, I get the New Hardware found message saying that it has found a Printer (no details, just Printer), I only have one printer which is shown in the Hardware list and is working fine, but to try and eliminate things. I have actually removed EVERYTHING from all connectors except LAN, mouse and keyboard but it still pops up with the 'Found New Printer'. I have not added anything new to my PC for a long time. I am running windows XP with SP3, but this started a couple of weeks ago when I still had SP2. I have a full Internet Security package through Virgin Media so don't believe it to be virus related. Any suggestions? Thanks Keith
Guest Darko Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 RE: New Hardware Found Does this "Printer" device show up in Device Manager? If yes, what's the Hardware Id (shown under the Details tab) associated with it? I tried the Registry edit suggested by Microsoft and it didn't stop the problem. I get the "New hardware found" message even when the printer is not plugged in to the USB Port. I have the XP drivers from Brother, and the Wizard will not accept them. It instantly tells me that it can't find the correct drivers, so I know it is not taking the time to search online.
