Explorer.exe crashes frequently - errors replicated

Dear MVPs and all,

Hey people. I have good news following my previous post. My

exlorer.exe still crashes frequently with unknown fault module. I've

tried the sfc /scannow and searched for viruses/malware/spyware using

updated Symantec Corporate Edition 10.5, Spybot, as well as cleaning

up the Trojan.Vundo using tools from Symantec.

BUT, I can now replicate the crash. It happens whenever I exit My

Computer, Control Panel, or any folders then I'll have an error

screen it restarts explorer.exe. Pored over solutions on the net and

set "Launch folder windows in a separate process" (problem solved

except when closing Temporary Internet Files accessed from IE, don't

think IE is the culprit)

Now it crashes whenever I close the Network

Connection window (Start > Connect to > Show all Connections). The

desktop flicker for a split second (just like when we press F5 to

refresh it) before error message appear.

Could you all please assist me?

Thank you.

Try my Explorer Shell Fix tool. Download it here

Stop stalking me in these groups butts.

Do you really want to trust someone that was banned from posting

directly to Microsoft Usenet servers, someone that has posted links to

pornographic materials on HIS WEBSITE, who's website is in the MVP HOST

Block list, and who provides a tool for your use that will block access

to reputable anti-malware sites without telling you he's doing it?

And do you really want to trust someone that has had to change their

posting identity after being busted by MS as a fake MVP?

You could always consider System Restoring back to a restore point preceding

this.

thanks people. No thanks real truth mvp. Now, can I replace the

explorer.exe with another copy? Since explorer is running, I can't

copy the new one to it. Any ideas how? Need to back it up too.

Did you try System Restore? If so, you don't need to "replace"

explorer.exe, which in all likelyhood, you can't do anyways, since it's an

in-use system file, and what's more, is probably not the real problem here

anyways.

Thanks lots Bill & Co., thanks everyone. Problems solved with system

restore. Just that many uninstallations were undone. Thanks anyway!

Glad to hear it worked. Yes, that is the drawback, but you can always

reinstall those again.
