Your Remote Desktop session has ended

Hello all --

I have a Windows 2008 Std installation with Terminal Services installed.

The server is a member server of an Active Directory domain.

I initially installed and used the Terminal Server on the 2008 machine

during the trial period.

I setup Remote Apps and had copied the .rdp files to my local workstation.

Everything was working fine and life was good. I really enjoy the RemoteApp

feature.

I later activated Windows and soon thereafter ran VMware's CONVERT to P2V

the machine to an ESX 3.5 host. No issues here.

When I logged into the machine for the first time under ESX, it deteched

that the hardware had changed and I needed to re-activate Windows within 3

days. At that time, I re-activated windows. I also noticed that Terminal

Sever licensing was no longer working and I called Microsoft to activate the

licensing server and add a 5-user CAL for Terminal Server. All appears to

be fine here.

The problem:

I have noticed that every time I launch a RemoteApp now, I enter my domain

credentials and the application comes up. No issues.

However, when I start my second application and enter my login credentials,

a MsgBox appears stating:

TItle: Remote Programs Disconnected

Msg: Your Remote Desktop session has ended.

Msg: Another user connected to the remote computer, so your connection was

lost. Try connecitng again, or contact technical support for assistance.

There is only an OK and HELP button. If I hit, OK, the program that I was

trying to launch still comes up and now both programs work. If I launch the

third program, the same thing happens and all three programs are running.

It doesn't look like I"m really being disconnected. And it is like the

terminal server thinks I'm currently logged in with another session and I'm

about to disconnect that session and reconnect as a new connection. Maybe

that is what is happening and is the reason why I can still see all my

applications.

How can I resolve this so I'm not prompted with the silly message. I am not

logged into console or any other session other than having the first

RemoteApp running.

I have rebooted server with no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi -- I checked and that key doesn't exist on my system.

I do belong to the domain administrators group while logging on .

Re: Your Remote Desktop session has ended

Strange, because everything in your problem description indicates

that the server is configured for a single session per user, and

every new connection takes over the previous one.

Have you checked this setting in the TS Configuration GUI and

checked your GPO?

Re: Your Remote Desktop session has ended

I have no idea if this is correct, but I changed the "Restrict each user to

a single session" from "Yes" to "No" and now it works as expected.

It appears to behave the way it used to. I have no idea if this is the best

approach??

If I log in using RDP now (Not using RemoteApp) to the server from one

machine... and then go to another machine to login, I assume I will have a

unique session and my first won't be disconnected??
