Guest FlaBill Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Friend's pc shows only black screen and a blinking cursor. He pushed F2 and F12 only to get the Phoenix bios screen asking for a password which is foreign to him. How can he restart Windows? Running Pentium based HP about 2 years old, don't have explicit details. He is in another city and doesn't have access to a Windows disk. Bill

Without suitable tool he would not be able to fix this problem. Ask him to take the machine to a computer repair shop.

This problem is occurring LONG before the OS starts to load. In other words... Ask elsewhere

Guest Sandy Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Re: Black screen w/ blinking cursor I'm working with a similar problem, and have asked for help earlier today. My question is how do you tell if a partition is activated? I've used the "Diskpart" tool in Vista, and see that the O/S is booting off the "Recovery" drive rather than the "C" drive. So, how do I change that? Thanks Sandy -- IT Services Help Center "Pegasus (MVP)" wrote: > > "FlaBill" <WFWPics@gmail.com> wrote in message > news:b480be52-5c69-447f-ba4e-396f0c971407@l64g2000hse.googlegroups.com... > > Friend's pc shows only black screen and a blinking cursor.
