Guest dilg Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I am working on a box and when you click start the names for My doc and other are gone. the icons are there but no names. the target is correct and I can rename the folder but after I hit enter the name disappears. I am running virus scan but so far nothing is showing up.

See Tip #2 here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/tips/default.mspx To turn off filenames, hold down the Shift key when you click to open a folder in Windows Explorer or when you switch into thumbnail view. This will turn of the file names, giving more space for the thumbnails. Doing it again turns them back on. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] The Winhelponline Blog: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog Windows® Troubleshooting: http://www.winhelponline.com "dilg" <dilg@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:545CF6AD-606A-45C3-AC3A-CC949BFD9FB4@microsoft.com... >I am working on a box and when you click start the names for My doc and >other > are gone. the icons are there but no names. the target is correct and I > can > rename the folder but after I hit enter the name disappears. Guest dilg Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Re: my documets, my network ect.... Thanks for the reply but that doesn't fix anything! your link sends me to sevice pack two deployment and there is no number two that tells me anything. plus when you hold the shift key and click, nothing happens. Not eveything is hidden just the folder names after you click "START", where "all programs" is, top right where "My Doc's", My network, My computer, the names for each are gone. I can rename each but the names disapear. I tried you method and again it does nothing.
