NO-DRAMA Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Hi My Mums laptop running on XP is infected with Security center. It wont allow me to run anything.I have followed some removal instuctions in safe mode with networking as far as running rkill from a disk which stopped the pop ups but it still wont allow me to run Malwarebytes or any other anti virus. It just keeps saying"Widows cannot access the specified path or file,You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them". Any help would be greatly appreciated.Im close to chucking it out of the window!Which I dont think my mum would be too chuffed about!;) Thanks Emma Quote

Starbuck Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Hi Emma, This program has worked very well in the past for the problem you are experiencing and it's being continually updated to cover any new variants. You can either use Safe Mode with Networking to download it or you can download it to another PC and transfer it by way of usb stick or disc. If transferring it, please make sure you put it onto the 'Desktop'. Download RogueKiller and save it to your desktop. Close all the running processes Double click RogueKiller icon to run the program Vista/Win7 users should right click the icon and select Run as Administrator. When prompted, type 1 (SCAN) and then press Enter A report will open, please copy and paste this report in your next reply. A copy of the RKreport.txt can be found on your desktop. Note: If RogueKiller is blocked, do not hesitate to try running it again. If it still fails to run, right click on the downloaded icon and select 'Rename'.....rename it to winlogon and try again. Let me have the report that's generated and we'll take it from there. Thanks Quote Member of:UNITE
