I am in need to install another win xp pro SP3 on the same Disk partitioned

in C: and D: in NTFS format.

I ask:

Is it possible to get it or there will be conflict?

For the boot what is the best?

I think to rewrite the command line in boot.ini, like it:

[boot loader]

timeout=30

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)Windows=

"Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition"

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)Windows="Microsoft Windows XP

Professional Edition" /fastdetect

This will work? Or then I tink also in use the magic boot from partition magic

Could MVP explain to me?

The only way to repartition your c drive would be destructive, and that would

wipe out your operating system, if you want to start fresh, then it's a good

idea.

if you don't want to start fresh, then you need to use partition magic, to

repartition your system drive without destroying your operating system, then

just install the 2nd copy on the new partition and it will create the boot

menu for you.

Why? Knowing the reason for this would help significantly in offering

relevant suggestions.

You can do a multiboot but you must be careful that the second install does

not write any of its files or folder structures to the C drive.

Alternately, and this is where knowing why you need this becomes helpful,

you *could* install Microsoft Virtual PC, install the 2nd version of XP to

that, and not have to worry about disk conflicts at all. IIRC, however,

MVPC can't handle USB ports, so an alternate might well be VMWare server.

Both of these are free.
