Guest Jodi Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 I have Windows Xp on my computer and we have never created new account users we have also just used computer administrator. Last week, I made a new account. Today I shut my computer down and when I booted back up, I only had the chance to log into the new account I made, computer administrator is gone! I cannot access any of my files, pictures, etc that I had saved on my computer. When I created the new account I did give it computer administrator rights because it said I had to have at least one more account with the administrator rights. Can anyone help and tell me how I can log into my old account and where to find it. Thanks, Jodi
Guest Rey Santos Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 RE: Please HELP...Can't log into computer administrato Are you automatically logon? You see the Welcome screen instaead of the logon screen? Try this: Start > Run, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes). Click to check the box "Users must enter auser name and password to use this computer" See this also: How to Disable/Enable the Windows XP Welcome Screen http://www.wikihow.com/Disable/Enable-the-Windows-XP-Welcome-Screen -- Rey "Jodi" wrote: > I have Windows Xp on my computer and we have never created new account users > we have also just used computer administrator. As you've discovered, as soon as you create an admin level user account, the built-in Administrator account goes into hiding. To log on to this account, do the following. Hit the Start button and click on Log Off. Log off from your new account. At the Welcome screen, hit the Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys twice. This should bring up the Log On to Windows dialog. Enter Administrator in the User name box and the appropriate password. Take a look at these articles if you want to have the Administrator account displayed on the Welcome screen.
