Guest mopalinski Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 On XP desktops that have not been upgraded to SP3, I am able to access my NT4 Terminal server using RD 5.1.2600.2180, however when I attempt to access the same NT4 Terminal server from a PC with SP3 and RD 6.0.6001.18000, I am not able to access the NT4 Terminal server and get the following error: "Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again." If I copy the Remote Desktop version 5.1.2600.2180 to the upgraded PC along with the associated DLL, I am able to once again connect to the NT4 server. Does there exist a fix to make the newer version of Remote Desktop connect to the NT4 server without getting the protocol error?

It seems that MS abandoned NT4 support in recent versions of the RDP client. You have to use an older version of mstsc.exe. -- Sincerely, Eugene Sukhodolin CTO, TSFactory Inc. http://www.tsfactory.com
