KenB Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I have heard from Acer support - they are either being obstructive or have not read my email correctly. Could you let me have the serial number of your machine please? It should be on a white sticker on the case. It is a long mixture of letters and numbers. They were asking for that - I don't know why because I gave them all the information they needed ......even a link to this thread !! How deep does the PSU go into the case? Where was the machine bought? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
FLR Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) The PSU is as deep as it can be,i mean stucked to the case. The PC was bought in Belgium.I don't see any serial number on the case,is there anywhere else I can see that serial number? EDIT: On my last post at the graphics card I messed up the length with the height, its reverse : Height - 73mm(the case has space for ~90mm) Length- 177-178mm Edited November 21, 2011 by FLR Quote
KenB Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I have asked the same questions of Acer UK #111122-002247 Hopefully they will be a little more helpful :) Waiting on their reply. KenB Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Good News Acer UK have replied to my email and the result is your motherboard is a standard board and can be moved to a new case. Their e-mail is below: Thank you for contacting Acer UK. We regret the inconvenience experienced. Regarding your enquiry, yes the motherboard can be transferred to a standard case. With regards to your product’s warranty, please note the customer is able to add hardware on the unit. Acer would not support any additional hardware added by you nor support any compatibility issues/software conflicts arising from this configuration. Please contact a local technician while adding hardware to the product. We would like to inform you, as per our records the unit is out of warranty. I have written back and asked for confirmation regarding the PSU. But ......looking at your pictures and the sizes you have given me - your PSU, in my opinion, is non-standard. I suggest you wait a day or two for official confirmation - but it looks like you will need to go for a new case. Let me know what you think. FLR Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 Thank you so much for doing this!Yes I will go for the new case, and that 1 with the 500W PSU seems perfect,i just have to transfer all my components with the motherboard there, and then i can choose a good video card. THANKS AGAIN. Quote
KenB Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 THANKS AGAIN. You are very welcome. Let us know how you get on :) Make sure that the Case you are ordering has enough Molex ( power ) connections for your use [ hard drive - dvd drive require molex power connections ]. Most Video Cards require 1 or 2 ....6 pin PCIe power connections. These are supplied from the PSU. If there isn't a 6 pin PCIe connector you can get an adapter to convert a Molex connection. Nuucci Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Sorry, but I would just like to confirm if he successfully transferred his PC components to a larger casing. I'm having the same problem right now, I also have this Acer AX3950 and I'm looking for space so I can upgrade. I'm searching the net for a whole day no luck, and then I end up here. I need help. FLR Posted August 14, 2012 Author Posted August 14, 2012 I'm sorry I haven't posted back. But I didn't get a new case back then.Because I only had money for a new video card. And I need a new case,a new PSU and only then a video card.So I didn't really go for the case because I didn't have enough money. Now I have saved enough money. But I still don't know what possibile case would go with my motherboard.I'm afraid that if I buy one it won't be compatibile with my motherboard and I'll end up buying it for nothing just like I did with that video card I bought and it wasnt compatibile... My brother has started to work this summer and has some money and his thinking of buying a good laptop and I told him that I might give him my money too for a good laptop, because it's easier than trying to get all this components and I'm not really sure wich ones to get.If I buy a good laptop I'll be able to play these days games and thats what I aimed for with this new PC thing. But I'd still want to upgrade my pc,becase a desktop PC is better than a laptop and more confortable. But I don't really know what I will do.If I ever get another case and it supports my components, then I'll let you know...
