**please help Trouble installing a fresh copy of Windows 7**

Hi welcome to yet another one of my problems with my pc that i hope there is some one out there who knows the answer to my problem.

 

Im having trouble with installing a new fresh windows 7 The option I chose was "do not get the latest updates for installation" but when I try to continue it says select where you want to install windows. I choose C:\ drive because its my main Hard-disk drive I click next and it says

 

"Setup was unable to use the existing system partion because it does not contain the required free space"

 

But i have a 1tb hdd of over 931gb of free space with windows 7 pre installed on it. Please note that my "System reserved drive E:\" is totaly full it has a capacity of only 100mb. the files on E drive are bit defender anti-virus files the names of these files are:

The icons are blanked out sort of...

 

The files:

Bdr-conf

Bdrescue

A rar file that says...Bdrescue it contains a blank file.

Bdrescue.mbr

Bdrescue.vm

 

All of these files are blank and are quite large

 

Any clue whether its safe to remove them off the "system reserved drive" please help thanks

I no longer have the bit defender anti-virus so the files on the drive are rendered pointless being on the there I have contacted bit defender and there investigating the problem but can you give me any advice? thanks

Hey matt them files are BitDeffender files......If you dont free up space on E drive soon the partition may become corrupt,then you will loose all data on it....

 

Uninstall BitDefender and those files can be removed.....

 

Are you using a FULL install legal Windows 7 DVD?

 

If it is a FULL install disk have you tried deleting the C partition during install and creating a new one?

Hi I have tried i went on live chat with bit defender and they told me to download the bit defender uninstall program tried it but it didnt work. yes it is a full legal windows 7 64bit disk. do you recommend removing the files? Its not that im running out of space o C drive because i have over 900gb of free space on it....i think its because i have no room on E drive Edited November 11, 2011 by Matt190191

You can remove the files but BitDefender may not run correctly after....

 

If its a FULL install I recommend deleting the C partion during install then recreate a new one......While your are recreating a new partition you may wish to create two,one for Windows and one for storage.....

 

I wasnt saying it was illegal babe,just that if it is a copy disk they sometimes corrupt and that could be the cause of problems....

The simple answer is a full reformat. That will remove everything so if there is anything on the drive you wish to keep, copy it over to an external drive or other storage medium.

To save me a lot of writing, Microsoft have kindly done it for me,

have a look here and choose the 6th item down, "Using the custom installation option and formatting the hard drive"

Best of luck with it, a full reformat will get rid of the odd "E" drive for you as well I hope.

nah no need to luckily i didnt need to reformat jellybean just said to delete the BD files on the E drive and all worked out great thanks Jellybean!! :D and all others who helped me out thank you!

As discussed, there are still files on the System Reserved that are needed for bootup.

DO NOT attempt to delete / format this partition.

The System Files may not be visible - but they will still be there. This will be evident if the partition looks empty - but is still reporting "used space".

 

I am unsure how B-Defender started saving to this partition but, thanks to your persistence, you have finally got to the bottom of the problem.
