KenB Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Take a look in your Hosts file. Start > Computer > C: > Windows > System32 > Drivers > etc Open it in Notepad It should look like this: # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost If there is anything else copy it any paste it here please. greenfingers Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself. # 127.0.0.1 localhost # ::1 localhost sorry about the delay Quote
KenB Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 sorry about the delay No problem :) This is a standard Hosts file for Win7 If you trust me to try it for you send me a PM with your login details and a link to the appropriate Hotmail login. Other than that - Try logging on from a friend's machine ( Different IP Address ) to see if you can log in from there. greenfingers Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 thanks ken one of the first things i did was to try a friends computer i still couldnt log in. i have contacted windows live help again to see if they can resolve the issue, incidently i received an email from live help asking me to respond to their survey regarding my problem in which they asked if the link they sent me via email solved my problem as i never received any such email i dont expect any joy with my new request. if i have no luck this time it is my intention to delete all the hotmail links from my computer. but i would like to thank you very much for the considerable effort you have put into attempting to solve the issue Quote
KenB Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 It certainly looks as if the problem is at their end. I suggested that you try a different computer as, if IP Addresses are blocked sometimes they can also block innocent people. I don't know what else we can suggest from here. I believe the answer will lie in the Hotmail Forums - if you can get hold of the right person. It seems to be a common problem: http://windowslivehelp.com/thread.aspx?threadid=608f0e85-70e6-49d1-9a19-3d29d15f54dc Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
