Guest Ideas Live Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 If I have a Windows Explorer window open and just want to go to a specific directory, I'm used to just typing in the address bar, for example "c:\temp". But when I do this, Windows is trying to guess what I'm searching for. This always messes up what I'm typing. I type "c:\temp", then after a couple of seconds, the address bar shows "c:\" or "My Documents". I don't want Windows to do this for me. I just want to specify a directory myself. Thanks in advance, Brian
Guest Gerry Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Re: preventing Windows Explorer address bar from searching Uncheck the box before use Inline Autocomplete. In Internet Explorer select Tools, Internet Options, Advanced to locate the setting to be changed. -- Hope this helps. Guest Ideas Live Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Re: preventing Windows Explorer address bar from searching Thanks, that helps, although the setting I was looking for was "Search from the Address Bar". Guest Ideas Live Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Re: preventing Windows Explorer address bar from searching The setting you refer to is for Internet Explorer forms. I'm trying to prevent search in the address bar of Windows Explorer, not Internet Explorer. Even after changing the "search in address bar setting", it still is going back to "My Documents" when I try to type a path. -- Brian "Gerry" <gerry@nospam.com> wrote in message news:%2369Av3%239IHA.6052@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Uncheck the box before use Inline Autocomplete.
