'Saving your Settings' missing

XP Home+SP2 - IE7

I am gaving a ShutDown problem

When I go to Shutdown it hangs for quite a while (almost a minute) on

Logging Off and then eventually goes to Windows is Shutting Down and it

Shuts Down but it misses out 'Saving your Settings'

I have done a System Restore but I can't remember exactly when the problem

started so that didn't cure it

I have looked at the Auhma Site Page but nothing seems relevant

Most problems of other people seem to be hanging on Logging Off, same as me

but no-one else seems to have the missing 'Saving your Settings' problem

If not already in use on your machine, add the Microsoft add-on Service

called User Profile Hive Cleanup:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b286e6d-8912-4e18-b570-42470e2f3582&DisplayLang=en

*Some applications cause issues at shutdown due to the way they

terminate their dependant services, for those UPHC won't help.

Thanks for your Reply

I shall probably have to use the Ms UPH Cleanup as a last resort

However, I would really like to know the cause of the problem in the first

place ie why it misses out 'Saving your Settings'

Re: 'Saving your Settings' missing

If the Hive is written quickly enough, that status on the screen is omitted.

When I shut down my machine I never see the "Saving your settings".

Re: 'Saving your Settings' missing

Ok - I understand that

In the past 'Saving your Settings' did often 'flash by' but it never stayed

long on 'Logging Off' either - the whole thing was very quick

Something has changed and it's bugging me but I understand these ShutDown

problems are difficult to solve

I have downloaded the Ms UPH CleanUp ready to Install if I can't find a

solution

Thanks
