Guest DZ Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Hey everyone, Last night I updated my PC (SP 3?), and now all I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor. I have a removable hard drive and last night I was using my 320 gb one. Today when I check the BIOS, it doesn't see my hard drive. It does see the DVD, USB devices, etc. When I use my 120 gb hard drive it does the same thing. The 120 gb was updated the other day and everything worked, although I had to go into the BIOS and tell it to boot to the hard drive. Both hard drives worked until after last nights updates. Any ideas? -- DZ
Guest Bob I Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Re: XP update, now won't boot Sounds like the drive connection/or IDE channel failed, by pure coincidence after the install. IF the BIOS can't see a drive, then it is somewhat difficult to load an operating system from it no?
