I was looking to upgrade my graphics card

Hello, im not very experienced in this but I was hoping to upgrade to the nvidia geforce gtx 560 ti 1gb, and i just wanted to know if itd run on my PC and that my PSU would be powerful enough. heres my specs:

HP Pavilion Elite HPE-590UK

Cleveland Motherboard

Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.4Ghz

8 GB ram

Thank you for the link - it certainly saved my time looking for the specs.

 

You have a PCIe x 16 slot on the motherboard.

This is where your present card will be situated.

The nvidia geforce gtx 560 ti 1gb is PCIe so it will be a direct swap.

 

Note:

It needs 2 PCIe 6 pin power connectors ( supplied from PSU )

 

From what I can discover - it requires a PSU with a minimum of 500Watts

Your present PSU falls just short.

If you are considering upgrading the PSU I would certainly consider 700Watts or more.

 

It is a wide card and will block the expansion slot immediately next to the PCIe x 16 slot.

Your case is a Mid ATX and your PSU from the sizes - is a standard ATX PSU.

The Video Card is self-cooling.

The PSU will not run significantly hotter.

You could - later on - fit another fan if the temps were too high .....but unlikely.

It does, however, have 3 Molex power connections ( They usually have more )

You can get a Molex to 6 pin PCIe adapter - but you need 2 spare Molex Connections.

 

I don't like making recommendations as normally members have a budget.

I would suggest buying OCZ / Antec / Corsair

You have to pay more but a decent PSU is a must as everything in the case relies on it.

They are, however, more expensive.

 

If you want to go cheaper I suggest that you read the reviews.

I think the fan is located on the side...

and does that mean the psu wont fit in the case,, ad is that the PSU i selected, or the one that Neil chose??

I would like to just make sure, as I wouldnt be here asking if I wasnt ready to accept recommendations!! :)

I obviously do have a budget, but am willing to pay that bit extra, if it helps of course :)

all of this was to play the latest games on high-ultra..... obviously at some sort of budget :P

Both the PSU already installed and the ocz PSU i recommened are ATX so it will fit long as this one is your computer http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...odTypeId=12454, and just follow the instructions in that guide to install the Psu and youll be just fine.
