Hi. I really need some help.

I took a graphics card (Nvidia GeForce GT220) from computer 1 and put it into computer 2. Computer 2 accepted it fine and ran it straight away.

I switched on computer 1 and it ran fine for about ten minutes until the keyboard and mouse stopped working so I had to switch it off.

It wouldnt after boot a few tries and sometimes emitted a long beep.

I tried putting the card back in and now when I boot the computer it asks me to either start normally (which takes me back to this screen, or start with a repair. If I choose to repair, a loading bar comes up saying 'loading windows files' and when it maxes out, the keyboard and mouse switch off and the screen freezes. I've left it on this screen for over 30 minutes and nothing.

I dont mind erasing everything on the HDD so I tried to use the windows 7 disc but the disc tray wont open. Im really stuck here and I dont think its anything to do with the keyboard and mouse because Im using it on this computer and they have always worked fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to ExTS

Your problem may not be related to the Video Card.

Try taking one of the RAM modules out and boot up with the other in place.

if you get the same error - swap the modules over and try again.

Let me know the results.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Brilliant. It worked straight away. I never would have thought of that. And it works fine when I put the RAM back in. Thanks very much, I really appreciate it. You have saved me a hell of a lot of hassle. :o

You just may have disturbed one or both or more RAM sticks if fitted, when you removed the graphics card, pulling out and replacing the RAM will have remade the connection.
