Guest Riaan Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hello all, Here is my setup: Windows XP Media Center SP 2. ----- The Problem: When I have multiple folders open, it shows as a single program on the Start Bar. When I left-click on the list, I see a list of the folders. If I right-click on any of the background items in the list and select Close, it restores that window instead of closing it. This is really annoying. It started happening after some update a few months ago. I found that this happens now on Windows 2003 and Windows XP Pro/Home machines. It used to work. Does anyone have a fix/solution for this?

Guest Riaan Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Re: Start Bar -> Right-Click -> Close does a Restore... Kelly, Thanks but that did not work. Maybe I should clarify that I don't mean Start Button but Start Bar (the whole long thing next to the Start Button) and with folder I mean the ones you get when you open the C drive etc from My Computer. Guest ju.c Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Re: Start Bar -> Right-Click -> Close does a Restore... You could just disable Taskbar Grouping, open "Start Menu" > "Properties" and uncheck "Group similar taskbar buttons". Description of the "Group Similar Taskbar Buttons" Option http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281629 You could use TweakUI to modify Grouping behaviour. Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Tweak UI This PowerToy gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings, and more. Version 2.10 requires Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2003. http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe ju.c "Riaan" <Riaan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:43C43C10-5C42-427F-A689-7EA16991C240@microsoft.com... > Hello all, > > Here is my setup: > > Windows XP Media Center SP 2. > > ----- > > The Problem: > > When I have multiple folders open, it shows as a single program on the Start > Bar. Guest Riaan Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Re: Start Bar -> Right-Click -> Close does a Restore... I have tried all the things you guys suggested and it still does the same. So for now I am just going to live with it. Thanks for your help...
