Guest Ivan Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Hi all, I'm having problems using my tape drive under 2008 server in conjunction with backup exec. I'm trying to determine the reason why things aren't working, and I'd normally diagnose this by using ntbackup in 2003, and see if I could at least see the tape drives there. Being that 2008 doesn't have ntbackup, is there a way that I can check whether my tape drive is working with no issues?
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Re: tape drive in 2008 server Hello Ivan, Well, server 2008 backup will only use disks and no tapes. So i would make sure that all drivers are correct. You shouldn't use the windows driver, use the symantec provided drivers for BE. Also i would choose syumantec support for BE. BTW, which version do you use from BE? I'm using BE 12 and have installed sp1. I'm using the drivers provided by Symantec and, acording to device manager, they have no problems. Symantec support for BE, is this something I need to purchase?
