Falconet Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2106286 - My specs Also I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3 Some days ago there was a thunderstorm. The power went out for 2 seconds and the PC didn't even turn off.It just restarted. Ever since, whenever I start my computer(but only after it was off for several hours) it will go to the desktop and while windows is loading, the screen will either freeze and today it showed what I think to be an artifact in the top of the monitor(it was red and yellow and fuzzy) and I have to restart the PC, or it will simply restart by itself. I have run several softwares and have ruled out the CPU(ran Prime95 plus I run BOINC at 100% all the time)and the memory(ran Memtest and took out the modules one by one to see if it worked). I have also ran Furmark, ATI tool and VMT to see if there were any problems with the card and they all passed after running for several hours each one. The card temps reached 102 celsius and it didn't crash. I can also game normally. I can't think of anything else that might be the problem. I have already contacted Gigabyte(the card maker) but havent got any answer as of yet. Also the card was bought nearly two years ago(December 2009). Hope any of you guys and gals can shed some light into this issue. Thanks Quote
KenB Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Hi and welcome to ExTS Disconnect external hardware ( printer etc ). I would be inclined to take all cards ( RAM / Video etc ) off the m/board. Disconnect the Hard Drive(s) and CDROM. ( Power and data cables ). Leave only the 20(4) way PSU connection on the m/board. Switch on. You should get POST beeps ( not the normal one beep ) Let it stand for a while to make sure it is stable. If it isn't then you have a m/board or PSU problem. Add the Cards / connections one at a time - allowing time to see if it is stable. When the system becomes unstable - you have found the problem piece of hardware. Falconet Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 I will. Although I haven't tried it yet mainly because the PC booted normally! There were absolutely no problems at all! I'll be watching this closely. If it ain't broken, don't fix it right?? Thanks Quote
KenB Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 If it ain't broken, don't fix it right?? Quite correct. If it is performing normally - leave it until there is a problem :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
