KenB Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I would be inclined to get my money back. Where did you buy the laptop from? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
Plastic Nev Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 In short an upgrade will not do that. You may have to get in touch with Microsoft at their UK offices and explain the problem, though you may have to buy a new key from them. That may cost as much as getting a new genuine copy on disk and loading that. Now I have seen Ken answered at the same time, indeed get your money back. Nev. KenB Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 You have limited options. I am not familiar with FaceBook For Sale Rooms - but if it is anything like ebay you should be able to contact the F-B team and report the seller. At the very least they should be banned from F-B You can, presumably, contact the seller direct and suggest to them that you would either like your money back or the original installation disk so that you can correct the problem. You can also suggest that Misrosoft will be very interested in the fact that they are selling a computer with an illegal copy of Win7 on it. You can contact Microsoft direct and explain what is happening with the system. It could possibly be that the seller had wiped the drive in preparation for selling - installed the operating system - and had not validated it within the 30 day window. Microsoft will be able to tell you if it is illegal or if it is just not validated. You may be lucky. You last option is to buy a legal copy of Win7 and install that. I would only do this after speaking to Microsoft. First call should be to Microsoft - at least then you will know what you are dealing with. Plastic Nev Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Buying anything via the Facebook sale room is no different from buying from any private seller that you may find in the for sale columns of your local newspaper. I doubt Facebook will do anything as they do have a disclaimer about such sale rooms. Your argument is with whoever sold it and maybe Microsoft. If the seller cannot be found then Kens option of contacting Microsoft about it is the best option, though as I said earlier you just might have to pay for it to be a legal copy. If it turns out to be one of the many hacked operating systems, which can be from being the full system, right through to the bottom of the pile and being fully virus and other malwares pre installed. In that case, a new disk is the best. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. If Free PC Help has helped you then please consider a donation.
