Hey, I've just designed a custom computer on computerplanet.co.uk and I was wondering on if it would perform well whilst playing games.

I've tried to configure it to what I know about Gaming PC's but I'm not sure if it's good or not.

I hope to play games such as Counter-Strike 1.6 / CSS / CS:GO (when it's released).

This currently costs £463.46 and I am working on a budget of around £480 tops.

Please help!

Yes.

32 bit systems will only recognise 4GB RAM - and even then you will be lucky if you get to use 3.5 GB.

You have not taken into account the cost of the Operating System.

This is going to add about £100 to your bill.

So this memory is fine?

I have already got an operating system at home, got XP, Vista and Windows 7, all got a spare user on the CD for me to use, but I dont know what to use, my friend told me to use Windows XP and use the ME format to enhance CPU and overall better performance?

As far as I am aware - one Disk > one installation.

If you are not putting a 64 bit OS on the machine you don't need 8GB RAM.

As far as which OS to install for gaming - I am not in a position to comment .......I am not a gamer.

I have heard that about XP before - but cannot vouch for it.

It has three users per disc or something, I've used two already on my current computer and sisters laptop, so I should be alright to use the 3rd on my new pc?

I'll ask a lot of people and see what is best (XP/W7).

Thanks for the help KenB

Sorry to be a pain, but what is a better setup? The one I originally asked about or this one? This one has a different case and motherboard, It's also £60 cheaper than the original price (£463).

Your new case:

I did a quick search and came up with this:

The one review is not particularly good.

You get what you pay for.

The new motherboard:

Review here

There is one observation:

This board is not compatible with Crossfire - in other words you can only run one Video Card.

If you, at some point, wish to run two - then look for a different motherboard.
