Cannot start Help and Support

When I try to access Help and Support I get the following message:( Windows cannot open Help and Support because a system service is not running. To fix this problem, start the service named Help and Support.)

I have typed in Run:services.msc, and found Help and Support set on automatic.

I have tried a number of reg edits from the Registry XP tweaks site, but nothing seems to help.

Would it help if I re-installed Service Pack 2, and if I did would I lose any of my programs?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Cannot start Help and Support

I understand that the "Help and Support" service is set to "Automatic". But

does the status say "Running" instead of "Stopped"?

Have a look at the link below (posted by Jean)

Re: Cannot start Help and Support

Reinstalling SP2 should not affect existing programs. However, it's prudent

to take appropriate backups whenever installing or reinstalling a major

update for the OS.
