Guest Richard K Mahan Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I can no longer do a file search from the start menu. the search window that opens looks different and not operational.
Guest Muzafar Ganie Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 RE: Search files disabled H Richard K Mahan, Follow the following steps Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions. 2. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK. 3. Locate the Srchasst.inf file. 4. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses. NOTE: You may need your Windows XP CD-ROM to finish installing Search Companion if that does not fix the issue try the following 1/ Click the Start button 2/ From the Start menu click Run 3/ In the Run dialogue box type: regsvr32 jscript.dll and click OK 4/ Click OK again 5/ Follow steps 1 , 2 and 3 again to register the following files // vbscript.dll // urlmon.dll
