Hi and welcome to ExTS

We need a bit more information please:

I assume this is a desktop ? y/n

How are you trying to connect - wired / wireless ?

Do you have a router? If so ......make and model number please.

Start > Run ....type in ....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER

Click the + next to Network Adapters

What is listed ?

Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

You need to give us more feedback otherwise we are not going to get anywhere fast.

you didn't answer this:

Start > Run ....type in ....devmgmt.msc ......ENTER

Click the + next to Network Adapters

What is listed ?

Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?

This is important.

2wire att router

From what I can gather they make quite a few - the model number would help.

Do any computers work with this router?

okay, there are yellow marks next to it.

You STILL have not told me what is listed in Device Manager when you click the + next to Network Adapters.

So, working with limited information.....

Right click whatever is listed and select "Update Driver Software"

If you have a disk with the drivers on you need to put this in now.

You need to find the drivers for the Network Card. The yellow ! is telling you that there is a problem.

In addition to Bluesplayer's suggestion .....

Can you try another computer wired to the router?

If this is OK the problem lies with your PC - If the second computer cannot connect it is the Router or ISP.

Try.

Then type

ipconfig /all

Note the space after ipconfig

Post back what is listed.

All my other PCs work fine and wired and wireless

The yellow exclamation mark to be there one minute and gone the next - may mean the driver needs updating.

Go to the NVIDIA website.

Download NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Adapter driver onto a working Pc - then to say a USB stick and install on the none working Pc.

From what I have read this is most likely related to TCPIP.sys being corrupt.

Do you have your XP installation CD ? ( not recovery disks )

1. Does NVIDEA even have old drivers availible for download?

2. The network card is built into motherboard so how do I find the correct drivers?

3. Windows was pre installed on my PC so no setup CD.

I got the following error while trying to install the new drivers:

Go back to Network Adapters in Device Manager ( devmgmt.msc ) click the + and right click on the devices listed > uninstall.

Shut down.

Make sure you have a known working NIC on the motherboard.

Reboot.

Windows will find new hardware and install the drivers.

Try connecting now.

If no luck .....

Go back to Device Manager > what is listed against Network Adapters ?
