Guest Jeff T. Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I keep getting this on startup: Error loading C:\PROGRA~\MYWEBS~\bar\4.bin\M3PLUGIN.DLL I just click OK and it goes away until the next startup. Is there anyway I can make it not come up at all? Jeff

Well, it clearly was there and has not been completely removed. You just need to manually remove the references to its launcher. Run MSCONFIG and look for the MyWebSearch references, note where they occur (in the Registry or startup folders) then go there and remove them. It's a good idea to look in the Registry for any other MyWebSearch keys and remove them, as well as checking for the MyWebSearch folders under Program Files - remove them if they are there. Guest Jeff T. Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Re: Error on startup I went to MSCONFIG, I wasn't real sure of where to look and I didn't want to mess with things that I didn't know anything about but as far as I could see it wasn't in there. Press the Home key, press F3, type the name of the file into the search pane. Click "Find Next", and when located, delete the reference to the file. Press F3 to continue the search. You can click File, Export, and save the entry to the Desktop. If you remove it and there's a problem, double-click the .reg file you exported to the Desktop and it'll be added to the registry again. You can create a restore point before editing the registry too. You could click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG, click OK, click the StartUp tab, and deselect the item(s). When you restart the computer, you will be warned that you're running in the Diagnostic mode; click to not alert you again, and OK out. You won't see the message again. But I think it's best to just remove the references from the registry. -- Joe =o)
