Hello,

I have a 2003 server R2 SP2.

The server service without warning stopped and would not start again. When I

tried to restart the Server service I would get a warning that one of the

dependent services has been marked for deletion. Another admin in my team

went into the registry and removed msicsci as a dependent service for the

server service. What is:msicsci? And will removing the msicsci from the

dependent list for server service be a long term fix?

That service is for the iSCSI initiator for connections to iSCSI disks.

Typically, one might add that dependency so that fileshares don't disappear

on reboot. See the following KB article for more details:
