Win Explorer does NOT default to My Documents

Recommended Posts

I've read many of the threads about changing the default folder when Win

Explorer is opened to another folder. Presumably My Documents is the default,

but in my case, it isn't!! I just got a new PC and it defaults to the Start

Up folder.

I know how to change the target link to the C:\Documents and

Settings\Administrator\My Documents BUT I would prefer if it opened up at the

very top, with the My Documents standard icon right underneath Desktop,

instead of further down the tree under Local Disk>Document Settings>etc.

Anyone know what to do?

D/load this useful tool;

http://www.mrtech.com/mrsystray/

Changing file paths is one of the settings in OPTIONS.

I'm sorry Gel, but I don't feel comfortable downloading free/shareware, I

don't know anything about this site.

Start>All Programs>Accessories>right-click on Windows Explorer>Send

To>Shortcut on desktop.

It comes up the proper default way!

Hi chamois988

Try copying and pasting this line into the Target field of the shortcut:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,::{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}

Hope this helps :-) Let us know how it goes.
