Guest snowbound Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 My computer just started crashing consistently, BSOD with the message "BAD_SPOOL_CALLER" and tech info. Puter is Dell (something I quickly regretted), XP sp2, five user accounts, two with passwords. I am locked out of my personal account off and on, crash unexpectedly when I am in. Ditto admin. I did a system restore from admin, but it did not help. Can anyone shed some light on this. I have been unable to unearth anything useful other than the fact that I am not the only one this has happened to.
Guest mikeyhsd Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Re: BAD_SPOOL_CALLER have you googled for the error. spool usually refers to printer. mikeyhsd@sprintpcs.com "snowbound" <snowbound@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F468EA56-D6FF-4690-B176-2E29E0B1CC19@microsoft.com... Guest snowbound Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Re: BAD_SPOOL_CALLER The word spool is used in referring to print orders. This has nothing to do with the printer, but seems to be associated with log-in control. Yes, I googled for the error, and primarily found out that while it is a common event, nobody seems to understand what causes it. I did a search on Microsoft and got nada. Examining my system in safe mode suggests possible problems with either mother board or memory OR in how MS handles these. Bottom line: nobody seems to know squat, or isn't telling. I now have a techie walking me through some further diagnostics.
