No Hard Drive ??

So - as I see it .....you have one possibly working PC with more hard disks than you can shake a stick at .....

and 2 boxes that are no use without a Hard Disk .

Your question again?

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Vamp the computer towers will not boot up without hard drives in them......I am confused...............

Vamp are you thinking of setting up a server?

Ok let me see if I am correct,we need more information on what your trying to do and how you have this setup?

You have ONE fully working computer with six HDDs installed,it has one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse connected to it...

You have two other computer towers without any monitor, keyboard or mouse connected to them. They DO NOT have HDDs fitted.

How do you have these none working towers connected to the main working computer?

Your trying to make the two none working computers work or boot from the main working computer?

That is NOT going to happen...

You either make one of the none working computers into a server so all other computers that work in the home can share files from that server.

OR:

Fit hard drives and monitors, keyboard and mouse to the none working computers. Then insatll windows....

Once all three are up and running you can connect them via crossover cables or via wirless to share files...

If you could fully explain your setup I am sure we could help you further, but at the moment connecting two computers that do not have HDDs or external monitor etc to a main working computer actualy does nothing....

Vamp I am still utterly confused I am sorry....

You say you have one working computer and two NOT working....

To use the two none working computers, they need to have hard drives fitted and install windows.....

You can then setup a network and share files over this network....

To control all three computers over a network Virtual Machine can be installed and all three working computers can share files and be controlled via the one main computer.....

You cannot play games or share files with the two computers that do not have hard drives installed and windows installed. They simply will not work....They may turn on but they need to be booted and logged onto before you can set up any kind of network or file share system...

Im passing this over to other members for you as I am totaly at a loss of what you are asking for....

I now think I have what your trying to do....

But you need to give us the information we need.

Like how are all three computers connected up to eachother?

You have one working tower lets say on floor 1,this has no monitor, keyboard or mouse connected...

On floor 2 you have a computer with keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to it..

On floor 3 you have a computer with keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to it..

Both floor 2 and 3 computers do NOT have hard drives.

Both floor 2 and 3 computers are connected to the single tower on floor 1.

You can logon to floor 2 computer and surf the internet.

But you cannot logon to floor 3 computer and play games at the same time as floor 2 computer.

You want to have both floor 2 and 3 logged onto,up and running and use both at the same time....

My advice is to fit a hard drive to each computer that do not have one, install windows on both....

Then use the fully working tower on floor 1 as a server....

OMG at last I thought I was going utterly crazy......

Right now I dont know if this would work.

The tower that is fully working could be setup as a "Dual Boot",this means it would have its main hard drive split into two and then on each partition install a version of windows....

As an example....The main working tower, you split the partition into two seprate partitions,as an example you install windows xp on one partition then windows 2000 on the other, this creates a dual boot, then maybe just maybe you could use floor 2 and 3 computer to logon to the seprate partitions,so floor 2 computer logs onto XP floor 3 computer logs onto windows 2000 partition....

A lot of work that possibly will NOT work....

The easiest option is find out wich computer is the lowest hardware specifications....

Use this as a "Server" wich is a stand alone computer tower that other fully functioning computers connect to to share files such as video, games etc....

Take the other two computers add hard drives to them install windows on each then connect them to the server tower.....

Are you sure your Welsh vamp?

Only joking.....

Here is How to dual boot:

http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_vista_and_xp_with_vista_installed_first__the_stepbystep_guide.htm

There are other links and help there on how to dual boot diffrent operating systems, they are all pritty much the same on how to set them up....Great link and great help...

If the fully working tower is a higher specification than one or both of the other computers then keep it as a fully working computer and connect a monitor, keyboard n mouse, fit CD/DVD drives etc to it...

Here is an example of how to build a server:

http://www.intac.net/build-your-own-server/

BUT vamp, your easiest option and the simplist option is to fit a hard drive in floor 2 and 3 computers, install windows on both computers then connect all the computers up via a network.....

Just a small word of advice for future posts vamp.

If you were to speak in plain English instead of lazy text speech, it would be a lot easier to understand what you are trying to achieve.
