hi again ppl.....

i replied to your replies to my post,,,, (the original ones that i Still cant see.. grrr),, and

it is now about 15 minutes or so since i did that.. (and i know one or two of you have clock time

thingys happening,, so i will be relying on you too to confirm.)

and i have refreshed a zillion times and cant even see my replies to your replies.

(boy,,,,,, now even i'm getting confused,, then again, i'm easily confused,, ha ha)

bottom line is,,,,, does anyone know why i cant see my posts in this group anymore? i have a

screenshot of exactly what i see right now.. (took it less than 30secs ago) complete with little

purple arrows confirming i have replied to something,,,,, does anyone want to see it, or have a

site i can post it on? not sure if that would help anyway,, just merely show what i am

saying.

i dont seem to have server problems else where,, if, of course it is a server problem.....

Try using the news server at http://www.motzarella.org You need to sign up for

it but it's free and carries a lot of newsgroups.

hello Alias.....

i am replying to your reply to me,,, (but i cant see what you are replying too,, which means that

it is now 24hrs + and the problem still seems to be there... hmmmm.)

yes, Alias, i could use something like motzarella,, or many others, but i have this very bad

habit that i cant seem to shake,,,, i Always use o/e when talking on the micro server..... the

real point being,, i have come to this group lots of times, and never had this problem b4;; i

know,, i'll go swim around in some other groups on this server and see if it happens there too.

will report tomorrow.

oh,, and i certainly worded/said something wrong prior,,, i meant i use my isp's server to get

to this group.. damn, i'm getting tired again.(bluddy 'lym-pics, sigh)

Re: Mike, Joan, Web and SS...

Since you are using Outlook Express and are posting direct to the

Microsoft news server the problem has to be at your end. Is it possible

that you might have accidentally set OE to block your posts - Tools |

Message Rules | Blocked Senders List? If so you will need to delete the

entry and reset the NGs. Alternatively have you perhaps set up a message

rule and instead of perhaps highlighting or colouring your posts it is

deleting them (Tools | Message Rules | News).

I don't think that changing server as suggested by Alias will do anything

to solve the problem unless you have a message rule causing the problem

and that it uses the news server as part of the rule. If this is the case

then it is probably simpler to correct the rule.

Ahhh......thanks Mike. That is what I figured was happening but thought

I had better read all the answers to see if someone else thought so too.

I did it to myself once, lol.

And thanks re the version soup answer.....it was not something I paid a

great lot of attention to because I never would have reinstalled WinME

over itself. I think it is now toast.....said it couldn't find

"explorer.exe" the last time I tried to start it.

Cheers from the Pickle Lady......

I am gathering up the necessities for a 2-day bread & butter pickle

making spree, which can only happen one week in August. If I had to

sell them, you would be paying about $50/jar. But I have to admit they

are worth it!!!! (G)

D**n - you beat me to Lilly's "Circus" link, HL. I was going to use that one

later <g>

But maybe the real problem with Elayne's 100ml jam jars is simply that they

have big tops.

Mart,

Mike's 'groan' barely scratches the surface. I have a couple of photographs

of Piccadilly Circus that made me wince when I thought of your quip. I shall

never be able to look at them in quite the same way again!

Now, if you'd been taking the name of the Mudchester Piccadilly in vain,

that would be a different matter. But please don't misunderstand me, to call

it 'awful' would be high praise indeed!

hi again mike,, (hopefully,, i still cant see a single one of my posts)

i use 'msnews.microsoft.com' to access you guys at 'me',, as set up in my accounts.

just now (in last 5mins since i posted to you) i went and placed a post to:::

1)news.mozilla.org

2)news.microsoft.com

3)any ol' group on my own isps server

then after a refresh, every single post showed up.... all within a minute.

i just dont understand why i cant see my posts on 'msnews.microsoft.com'... ie, the server used to

get to you guys.

i think the rest of the bunch here have other things on their minds (pickles) so i am hoping you may

have another answer mike.

sigh... just went and looked in 'blocked sender',,, zilch.

weird thing is,, i used to visit here just fine,, just like i do in other groups etc... got me

beat, thats for sure,, a head-scratcher. (and no,, i dont got lice either,, ha ha.)

news.microsoft.com is the same server as msnews.microsoft.com

I would therefore simply switch to using news.microsoft.com rather than

msnews.microsoft.com. Same newsgroups, same posts, even yours! <g>

I'm sorry but I feel that you _have_ to have a rule somewhere that is

hiding your posts when posted to msnews.microsoft.com, especially so since

you say your posts to news.microsoft.com are showing. I previously

mentioned the possibility of your having blocked yourself (blocked

sender), or a newsgroup message rule, however there is also the

possibility of your having a customised view that is hiding your messages

but that's more unlikely since most users use the same view regardless of

the server they are using.

no mike,,,,, still none of your above.

but,,, something a tad odder has happened;;; when i said earlier that i test posted to

'news.microsoft.com', and my post appeared instantly, it was true,,,, but since then, i have

realised that other posts to same server/diff groups, have also not shown up.

as to whether 'msnews. blah blah' and 'news. blah blah' are the same,, well, i will take your

word for that;; but still cant figure out why something like would or could or is happening.

if both addresses are the same, then why can i see on one, yet not another..../? hmmmm

Why question what I posted when it is so very simple to prove this for

yourself? Use PING, TRACERT or other favourite tool and you will find

that both msnews.microsoft.com and news.microsoft.com resolve to the same

IP address. Currently both resolve here to 207.46.248.16 but this can

vary as MS used to use two if not 3 IPs for their news server but that may

have now changed.

Please Note:

This message was sent using the address news.microsoft.com for the

Microsoft news server.

Because, in some way or other your PC is screwed. I've made various

suggestions as to what may be causing this.

This message was sent using the address msnews.microsoft.com for the

Microsoft news server.

Because, in some way or other your PC is screwed. I've made various

suggestions as to what may be causing this.

Re: Mike, Joan, Web and SS...

So, two replies, virtually identical, one posted to the

microsoft.public.windowsme.general newsgroup on the news.microsoft.com

newserver and the other to the same newsgroup but on the

msnews.microsoft.com news server and, lo and behold, both messages appear

on both servers.

From the headers, the posting paths are identical

news.microsoft.com

Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2008 16:16:46 +0100

Path: TK2MSFTNGP01.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl

msnews.microsoft.com

Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2008 16:20:55 +0100

Path: TK2MSFTNGP01.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl

Proving, to me at least, that the two news servers addresses are in fact

the same server.

Jeanette,

Your problem has to be local to your PC and I feel is probably hiding

somewhere in your registry in the

HKCU\Identities\{ big ugly number }\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

key, most likely somewhere in the Rules\News sub-key.

Such an accolade - I feel very humbled.

My greatest talent is that not only can I make a worst fist of things than

most, I can do it far cheaper!! Why pay huge salaries to the politicians

and the barons of industry? The going-rate? Just unnecessary and I'd throw

in a 37.5 hr. week with no golden goodbye clause at no extra cost.

What a bargain!

However the spectre of a big top in Mudchester's Piccadilly Circus can only

be a sight to behold.

Jeanette,

I don't. <vbg> You are however posting using Outlook Express and the

registry key(s) I mentioned are where the rules are located be it OE5,

OE5,5 or OE6 that you are using.

From the headers of your post

X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106

which tells me that you are using Outlook Express 6, not fully patched

however as the latest version for use with Win Me would show

X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1478.

6.00.2800.1106 is the version that is part of IE6 SP1 (released late 2002)

but without the subsequent Cumulative Security patches for OE, the last of

which was released in April 2004 [KB837009, MS04-013: Cumulative Security

Update for Outlook Express] which takes OE to 6.00.2800.1409. To go to

6.00.2800.1478 would mean you then installing the later Cumulative Update

for Outlook Express 6 SP1 [KB887797] that was released in December 2004.

Incidentally I am NOT saying that installing the missing patches would

solve the problem you are seeing. Likewise I'm not suggesting you dive in

to the registry. Unfortunately I'm at a loss as to what to suggest to

help you as we seem to have explored all avenues.
