I only come here when I boot Server2008, Harry. For a while I did so when

booting Win ME, but I don't run it anymore.

Apparently I am Arturo again.

Re: Win ME Disks

You should post your question again in a new thread so's it'll be seen my

those who are not interested in the Win ME Disks discussion. I no longer

have Win ME available and off the top of my head can't think of the answer

to that one - it is several years since I saw that problem come up!

However, it may just depend on how long ago you made this change. Have you

tried "Scanreg /Restore" ? If you have a registry backup from before the

change, restoring that should correct it. Likewise running System Restore -

though there is really no point having System Restore enabled in VPC because

i). when you have Undo Disks enabled, you can discard said error - assuming

you realised it before merging Undo Disks, and ii). you can back your VHDs

up by simply copying them and should do if not on a regular basis, certainly

at the very start of using a VHD, and with *your* use for Win ME there

should not be so much changed that it hurts to go back to square one. But if

you have System Restore running, possibly that will be a solution.

When I'll be back here, I don't know. But if I am able to help, I will need

to know what file type you're talking about.

i run my vms like real computers, so no undo disks, i did this about 4 days

ago, it was for torrent files, no registry backups, and i did look at system

restore with no luck of a restore point. as long as it doesnt do this autoo

download thing to other files, i dont care really, because downloading

torrents is too much for WinME considering i only gave it an 8.5 gb hdd

No registry backups? You should have five, at least one of which is older

than 4 days. Are you saying you've run

SCANREG /RESTORE

and it does not give you those options?

Otherwise, if the file type is .torrent, I would uninstall the BitTorrent

client, reboot, then either reinstall it or search the registry for the word

'torrent' and delete all instances I found of it, then reinstall it.

what the heck. its just got to be a small deal of enabling or disabling a

feature within WinME or IE6. besides like i said, i dont use the bittorent

client on the vm because i only have an 8.5 gb hdd with it. i was just

downlading torrents for my main system. nothing big, really. it doesnt bother

me that much. and if you WANT to help me, like REALLY WANT to help me, feel

free, but show me how to do whatever (only if you feel like it)

To restore the question"Always ask before opening this type of file" when

downloading. Control Panel | Folder Options | File Type. Select file

extension in the left hand column, click Advanced and recheck the box

"Confirm open after download".
